Re: Completely confused

I was very glad to see that lyx was heavily present in the new HOWTO-HOWTO
(LAG).

however, the example given in the H-H, that is the bare lyx template gives
me the error messages when I run sgmlcheck (or by this respect any other
docbook document)

/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:2:1:W: cannot generate system identifier for
public text "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook V3.1//EN"
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:4:0:E: reference to entity "ARTICLE" for which no
system identifier could be generated /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:1:0: entity
was defined here /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:4:0:E: DTD did not contain
element declaration for document type name /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:8:8:E:
element "ARTICLE" undefined /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:9:11:E: element
"ARTHEADER" undefined /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:10:8:E: element "TITLE"
undefined /usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:13:6:E: element "DATE" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:16:8:E: element "AUTHOR" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:17:12:E: element "FIRSTNAME" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:17:36:E: element "SURNAME" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:19:10:E: element "ABSTRACT" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:20:6:E: element "PARA" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:25:7:E: element "SECT1" undefined
/usr/bin/nsgmls:<OSFD>0:26:8:E: element "TITLE" undefined

then using db2html gives

jade:/var/lib/sgml/CATALOG.docbk31:24:0:W: DTDDECL catalog entries are not supported
jade:/var/lib/sgml/CATALOG.docbk31:24:0:W: DTDDECL catalog entries are not supported
about to copy cascading stylesheet and admon graphics to temp dir
about to rename temporary directory to "docbook"

my distrib is suse 6.4. I have uninstalled jade_tex, but no effect.

is it really necessary to go and take any piece of cake out of internet -
rather boring.

thanks
