(?)xdm in 16bpp Mode

From Aubrey Pic on Wed, 15 Apr 1998

How do you get XDM to run in 16 bpp???? I belive it runs 8bpp by default. I have a .xserverrc file that forces 16 bpp. Whenever I ran XBANNER, it would default to 8 bpp. Thank you.

(!)Did you try putting it into your XConfig file? That seems to work for me. I presume this is an XFree86 installation (rather than Xig or X-insides or MetroX).

Does it work when you use startx -- 16bpp from a shell command line?
